Ms Mekki fainted when she was sentenced. By Heba Saleh in Cairo A well-known Egyptian actress has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for torturing two sisters who worked for her as maids.
Wafa Mekki, who appeared on the stage, television and in films, was convicted after a trial lasting just two days. Mekki had been accused of torturing the two girls after they informed her then husband about the visits of another man.
